 IN INDIAN KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS ((IKS) IN MANAGEMENT AND FUTURISTIC FRONTIERS OF MANAGEMENT –

  • Engaged in teaching courses and research on CSR, Business Ethics, Wisdom Leadership and Human Values and Enlightened Management: East-West Perspectives at the new and vibrant Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong for the last six months
  • Sustained commitment towards research and teaching on Human Values and Ethics at the Management from the Management Centre of Human Values, IIM Calcutta for over 16    years during 1993-2009.
  • Effective dissemination of inputs on the human side of the enterprise by stimulating and cultivating the capacity of the Right brain to complement the skills-oriented, intellect-driven and Left-brain dominated field of management education
  • Development of new and creatively engaging courses and research on Human Values, Ethics, Indian Ethos, Corporate Social Responsibility, Enlightened Management for MBA students for a holistic perception and vision of Management, a Big-Picture awareness of Life and Work, and a deeper understanding of the purpose of Life
  • Active involvement in conducting corporate training programs and consulting on Human Values and Ethics in Management to humanize the principles and practices of Management by igniting the fire within the present and future organizational leaders
  • Design and development of novel pedagogical and research methods beyond books and class room lectures by initiating learning from non-conventional sources and methods – learning from Nature; drawing lessons from Great Conversations and Dialogues from multiple cultural traditions; inspirational insights from Biographies of Great Masters of the world from different fields of human endeavour
  • Initiated research for innovative integration of inputs from Arts, Literature and Music to widen the perspectives of students and professionals and develop their capacity of dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity in a turbulent and fast changing global business scenario
  • Engaged in research towards crystallization and assimilation of insights from the classical wisdom literature of India and other spiritual traditions into the main stream of Management Education and present to the world a value-based, spiritually enlightened and globally relevant Indian model of Management and Education in general
  • Passionately committed to spreading of principles and practices of Meditation for developing a ‘Quality Mind’ by harnessing our latent energy and potential for all-round, balanced development of the individual in modern educational institutions and professional organizations
  • Engagement in creative writing and research to evolve a language and idiom for effective communication of values to the 21st century global and young mind-set
  • As the Editor-in-Chief of the unique bi-annual international Journal of Human Values (published from Sage) was constantly engaged in creating and expanding a multi-cultural and inter disciplinary forum for fostering a broad-based understanding of and appreciation for Human Values worldwide. The Editorial Board and the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal comprise scholars, thinkers and practitioners from Management and various other disciplines from different parts of the globe. The Journal completed the 15th year of its publication when I left IIM Calcutta.
  • Intense sharing of the message on Human Values and the spirit of Indian Ethos in Management in national and international forums of repute for more than a decade.
  • Transmission of inputs on Value Education beyond the frontiers of Management to institutes of higher learning, universities, schools and colleges by inspiring their faculty/teachers and students to develop future teachers in this area.
  • Apart from the Compulsory Course on Business Ethics in IIM Shillong have designed and been conducting courses on Corporate Social Responsibility: Perspectives and Practices, Management: Past, Present and Future, Wisdom Leadership: East-West Perspectives, and Management and Liberal Arts.
  • Led the Sustainability movement of IIM Shillong as the Chairperson of SUSCON, the Annual International Sustainability Conference of IIM Shillong for 15 years till the recent past.
